Nite Lite Ministries to hold benefit

Nite Lite Ministries will be holding a special benefit concert for the Salvation Army at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15.

It will be held across the street from the Salvation Army at the New Hope Foursquare Church, 925 Walnut St.

The public has been asked to come out and support the Salvation Army and bring a canned food item, a monetary offering if you can, and a friend.

Nite Lite Ministries holds monthly concerts at various churches throughout the north state in the hope that churches can come together in unity to demonstrate God's love.

It encourages people to bring friends, both churched and unchurched, enjoy some contemporary music and see how God works in the lives of His people.

The Unified band is made up of people from six different churches in the area. They hope through this ministry that others will see unity, humility, and service as they work together for a common goal.

The Salvation Army came into existence in 1878 under the leadership of William Booth and his wife Catherine.

The Salvation Army's outreach of meeting the material, emotional and spiritual needs of people includes more than 100 countries with over 3.5 million volunteers.

Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.
