Taizé prayer involves the repetition of simple sung Christian phrases. The experience of singing these phrases nourishes us on a deep non-verbal level. The service consists of quiet chanting, scripture reading, petitions and silence. It allows us to come together to the cross during this Lenten Season to pray, to bring our burdens and the burdens of our world and all that is in our hearts to Jesus Christ.

Taizé is the name of the village in France where Brothers of an Ecumenical community reside and where young adults have been gathering for this type of prayer since the late 1950’s. Many churches and retreat centers throughout the world regularly offer this type of meditative communal prayer.

Wednesday, February 6th ~ Ash Wednesday Service at 7:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary

Every Wednesday in February (Feb 13th – 27th) ~ Evening Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary

Every Thursday Morning ~ Morning Prayer Service at 8:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary

Sundays during Lent (Feb 10th – Mar 9th) ~ Taizé Worship Service at 4:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary

Good Friday service in Corning

The public has been invited to a Good Friday service at the Corning United Methodist Church on Friday at noon.

It is sponsored by the Corning Presbyterian Church and the Corning and El Camino United Methodist churches.

Pastors Ray Watkins, Howard Sanborn, Nancy Pharis-Curie and Kathleen and Doug Smith will be officiating.

Sacred Heart Holy Week schedule

The schedule of Holy Week and Easter services at Sacred Heart Catholic Church is as follows:

April 5, Holy Thursday Liturgy of the Lord's Supper with Washing of the Feet: 7 p.m. in English at the church, 515 Main St.
Red Bluff; 7 p.m. in Spanish at the parish hall, 2355 Monroe St., Red Bluff.

April 6, Good Friday Liturgy of the Lord's Passion and Death: 12:15 p.m. in English at the church; 5 p.m. in Spanish at the
parish hall. The Spanish service includes a presentation of the Living Stations of the Cross, outdoors on the parish hall grounds,
at approximately 5:20 p.m. All have been invited to attend.

April 7, Easter Vigil including Blessing of the New Fire, Liturgy of the Word, Sacraments of Initiation, Liturgy of the
Eucharist: 8 p.m. in English at the church; 8 p.m. Easter Vigil in Spanish at the parish hall.

April 8, Easter Sunday, regular Sunday Mass schedule: 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. in English; 1 p.m. in Spanish, all held
at the church.

First Southern Baptist Easter service

First Southern Baptist Church, 585 Kimball, Red Bluff, has invited the community to share in their Easter celebration at 11 a.m. Easter Sunday.

Music will include the church praise team, the "Rock-em" children's choir and the Friends in Faith quartet.

Pastor Tom Turner's Easter message will be "Come Alive This Easter." An Easter treat will be provided for all children following the service.

Services at Mount Olive Lutheran

Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 341 East Solano St., will be holding the following services:
Maundy Thursday services at 7 p.m.;
Good Friday services at 7 p.m.,
Easter Sunday services at 9 a.m.

Pastor Dallas Bubke and Vicar James Glowinski will be officiating.

Easter Holy Week Services set at St. Paul

St. Paul Lutheran Church, 455 Jefferson St., will hold the following services:

Palm Sunday, the Sunday School and adult Bible class will be at 10 a.m. with worship service with palms at 11 a.m.

Easter Holy Week, Maundy Thursday service will be at 7 p.m. Good Friday, there will be one half-hour noon service with singing and mediation and Good Friday service at 7 p.m. "The Glory of the Cross is hidden in the Savior's Promises." Easter Sunday, there will be 6:30 a.m. sunrise services followed by men's Bible class serving breakfast.
